    About Scott Schwieder

    Minnesota Civil Engineering Leadership

    Scott Schwieder was an established presence in Rochester, Minnesota, where he served in the city’s Engineering Division for 35 years. Earning his associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology at Minnesota State College Southeast, Scott Schwieder gained early experience as a Survey Technician with McGhie & Betts in Rochester. He was the instrument person within a crew that undertook land/boundary and topographic surveys.

    Accepting responsibilities with the City of Rochester as Survey Party Chief and Senior Civil Engineering Technician in 1993, Mr. Schwieder guided survey crews in assignments related to municipal, state, and federal-aid projects. He evaluated and interpreted civil engineering construction plans and utilized leading-edge survey equipment in providing general contractors with critical information for making construction project improvements.

    Scott Schwieder ultimately took on responsibilities as one of the municipality’s Senior Engineering Technical Inspectors, overseeing the work of licensed contractors and subcontractors on major projects, such as underground utilities, roads and bike paths. In retirement now, he holds status as a Certified Tree Inspector with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
